The Striped Bass

Location:   Saltwater New York

The Striped Bass or Striper or Rockfish (Morone saxatilis) is the official Saltwater Fish of New York State. It is found along the Atlantic coastline and in the estuarial Hudson River where it is fished both recreationally and commercially. Striped Bass can grow to 50 inches, weigh upwards of 50 pounds, and live for 30 years.
